Project Highlights 2025

Looking back on some of my favourite projects delivered this year.

I spent most of 2025 balancing delivery velocity and technical quality for social impact startups at the intersection of health, finance and compliance.

2025 was a big year for tech adoption, AI continues to flood the space and smartglasses have made a promising late resurgence.

Most remarkable to me has been the growth and standardisation of AI developer tools, such as MCP for development. 2026 may be a interesting year for developers as the space continues to change.

Hold on tightly to those new shiny spanners, they're slippery!

Here's some of my personal delivery highlights.

Contents

Lakehouse and Dynamic Data Analytics Pipelines

Spike tolerant, dynamic payload handling, real-time data fanout and source (pre-transformation) data analytics.

  • Dynamic payload ingest
  • Lakehouse patterns, raw -> structured -> analytics
  • Unified columnar data storage, Parquet
  • Fanout and real-time processing pipeline
  • Query layer and analytics, meta-databases and Athena

Building data ingest pipelines that can handle unpredictable payload volume and shape was a great opportunity to take my serverless architecture skills to a new level.

Digital Identify Verification

Real-time third party bank identity verification for the NDIS with OpenID FAPI 2 (ConnectID).

As the first implementer of new OpenID Australia FAPI 2.0 RP ConnectID spec for bank account verification I worked closely with their SDK team and build a zero-trust data submission and identity verification platform.

PayloadCMS and Content Management Systems

My involvement with Binfluence has grown to include a rebuild of the working PoC into a new MVP for the coming 2026 launch.

I can't recommend building with PayloadCMS enough. Built on NextJS, PayloadCMS is a seriously versatile foundation for real development and enabling non-dev ICs to push low or no-code changes.

I'm hoping 2026 continues to bring open-source wins with Figma (should I stop holding my breath?)

PayloadCMS has a growing community. I've built a few extensions for common things like maps integration that I may push into open-source this year.
